This is a good quality set in a nice box. The case does dent and ding a bit more than expected. It has many different components and everything seems to be good quality. My daughter is interested in art, but not quite ready for such an extensive set. It would be great for someone who is a bit further along. :)

It was perfect for a 10-year-old artsy girl. Have to hide it,though, from her nosy 4-year-old brother. Great Christmas gift. Wonderful! The Art 101 Artist Suite contains every medium she will need when next year taking art in school. Every thing from oil to watercolor can come under her youthful experimentation. It will help to develop her eye, as well as her technique. The box is a keepsake, nice wood grain. Hinges and handles are well made.

I got this as a gift and was so excited to use it. It's functional, however, I do have a few complaints. The acrylic paints seem toxic. After using them today, my throat feels sore/burned on the inside and my eyes are burning as well. I spent about 4-6 hours painting today in a well ventilated area. The brushes that are provided have some sort of sticky glue on them that has been used to glue the ends of the bristles together. I had to separate them with my fingers and many of the bristles were still stuck together as well as overly stiff because of this substance. I imagine this must be some sort of factory glue. The bristles also fall out while painting, which was incredibly annoying to have to pick bristles off my canvas and repaint those sections. The colored pencils get an A+.I have not tried the oils, water colors, or pastels yet.The inside of the wooden case was slightly cracked/damaged. For a $100 kit, this is not right at all.
