I became aware of this palette when it was described by one of my favorite watercolorists, Brenda Swenson. So when I needed a new palette for the field, I bought it and filled it with my pigments. I have used it in the field 3 times now, and it has worked well.It is sturdily made, with thick plastic, not the all-too-usual thin variety. It closes tight enough to prevent any wet watercolor from leaking out during transport. 18 to me is a good number of pigments for painting just about anything (though I usually select 3-6 of them for any given painting). There's plenty of mixing room, especially with a portable palette--most have considerably less. And it's light and compact, fits into my field day backpack easily. It will be going to the field with me for onsite sketching all through Summer and Fall (until the next rainy season around November here in the Pacific Norhtwest--though I'll go out then too but less frequently).Highly recommended.
