These pens are great to work with no matter if you have a large or small project or if it's profession or personal. And it's great to watch children working with them too.

Tombow pens are great for card making. Good range of colors for flesh tones and even light shading for shadows.

I have had these brush pens for about a week now [not through vine program]. First of all, notice the actual colors included. They are only flesh tones, not shadow colors. In other words if you use blues for shadows, no blue. No colors for eyes nor hair, other than one brown brush. So do not expect to do complete portraits using only these colors. That said, if your current selection of brush/pens has more of a rainbow cast to it, then these subtle shades will be a welcome addition.I have used them in combination with other brands of brush/pens with pleasing results.Next issue is paper selection:The first two papers I used were not up to the task. First I used sheet paper, not much heavier than copy paper, if that. When I tried to build up tones, the paper pilled. I tried another sketch pad with regular tooth and again the paper could not hold the ink. Finally I broke down and used Bristol, a hard smooth paper. That was great. You need a slick paper if you like to layer the color. What I noticed was that over time, over night for example, the ink colors blended a bit so that some of the hard edges softened. That is good in a portrait. Also if you swipe the lighter colors across a swath of a darker color, the darker color bleeds into the lighter one. You can use that to your advantage when you know that it is going to happen. The pen end of the brush/pen is a medium width, not as fine a point as I would prefer, but okay for putting in those hard edges as needed. Remember that the next color to go over the line will make it bleed.I am enjoying experimenting with these brush/pens. So far no fine art, but certainly fun to use while watching TV.

I love these pens for drawing faces. Recommend to always use water color paper for best performance. They are so good I am now considering buying more colors.
