This pad may be small, but I absolutely love it. My Copic pens don't bleed through, and I love how you can put it in your bag or such and take it anywhere.

He's gone sketching almost immediately. As with his wife, they both now have their quiet times with what they enjoy the most; with his eyes looking at this handy little durable sketch pad (it is perforated so you can tear your work out from the sketch book if necessary) but little did he realize what else was coming up next, the artist's dream - the whole set of pencils to charcoals plus erasers galore. Just like his mom had used; wasted not a minute to say Thanks Mom! and got busy right away! The paper is top quality, non-glare, medium weight (from my standards of paper grading), has some texture to the paper itself; so it is not 100% smooth, which is good - prevents slippage and reducing errors as well as excessive erasures. This book is durable for usage of India Ink, for those who wants to practice with calligraphy or artwork with India Ink - I would recommend this after a sketch outlining has been done. For I have tested a sheet after asking my son, to see how it holds up from fine tip to wide (or broad tip) pens (India Ink) and it did pretty well with minimal bleeding so I would recommend a placard or a small smooth wood board if one opt for this. I tried using this with water color (after India Ink dried); to my surprise, it held up pretty good for a miniature canvas if carefully taken apart from the sketchbook.I found this to be impressive because of the quality of paper and grade, it is multipurpose; already aware it can handle pastels, crayons, pencils, coloring pens, et al.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!I just was informed by my married son .... "Mom, can you buy me another one for Father's Day please? I only have a few pages left!" Then I answered in total shock, "WHHHHHAATTTT?" He came and sat down; showing me all these designs - many of them on BOTH SIDES OF THE PAPER - some in ink, permanent ink, pencil, charcoal pencil and a couple in coloring pens - WOW! (In the back of my head was saying "Whoa Nellie, slow down there hoss")Not only was his work impressive, but I was certainly AMAZED how strong this book held up; and yes, it got caught in the rain a couple of times as well as 2 of his children who got into it that bent the back hardboard of the book; yet he carried on with his drawings. When I inquired if he would like a BIGGER book, his response was no - he wanted this Canson Universal Sketch Pad 5.5 x 8.5 because it was absolutely PERFECT and he still has his Pro Art 18-Piece Sketch/Draw Pencil Set that I purchased to go with it. Oh my goodness - he's already gone through 100 pages of this already since December 2011!++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++July 20, 2012:Just purchased another one already! This one is for me this time around ... we sure do run them out! Top Notched quality paper - for ALL MEDIA: Pastels, Ink, Pencils, Chalk, - you name it - it can handle it!For FINE TIPPED PERMANENT INK - I have a spare thin white cardboard like which I insert between the pages; it does not bleed too much; but if you use bigger (broad tipped ink) it will bleed; however - it is excellent for practicing Calligraphy to Abstract Art including "wet blending" with Non-Permanent Ink.FOR INDIA INK - I strongly recommend a more sturdy cardboard in back between the pages after the sketch has been done; depending on what tip (point) you are using - remember this - this is a spiral bound book but it does not mean it is "hopeless", just turn the book upside down and work the other way around with India Ink and you can preserve your work inside but of course remember to let it dry first before your close the book.OIL TO WATERCOLOR (PAINTING) - same application as for India Ink. If you sketch lightly before you do watercolor painting; there is a way to "wash" the paper is by taking the wide brush and clean water and wet the paper by stroking it down but not completely saturated like other papers. You will be surprised how your water color artwork will come out in this manner.EXCELLENT PAPER FOR MINIATURE ARTWORK AND TATTOO GRAPHIC DESIGINING!* Both above gives you, the Professional to Hobbyist Artist the ability to keep and maintain all of your artwork (and tattoo graphics) in order.* For the Tattoo Professional; it is very easy to copy and trace with ease your customized graphics, even if the customer wants the graphic slightly altered you would not have any difficulties whatsoever.* An excellent portfolio that doesn't fade or yellow and can be dated and stored with ease! There's just too much to list in this handy book!STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS BY ALL MEANS!

I'm now at a point in my life where I have more time than before. I can finally pursue my love of the visual arts. I've always loved pen and ink with watercolor washes. It always amazes me how a court reporter artist can capture the essence of a situation within just a few minutes. While I don't expect to reach that level of skill, I enjoy taking this sketchbook with me and capturing thoughts, ideas, motifs. Combine this with a Sakura Pigma Micron Black pen set and a Sakura Pigma Color Brush pen set and I'm ready to take on those sketches. Some things that set this product apart from other sketchbooks:* First, it costs less than a lot of other sketchbooks. Always a good thing.* Second, it has more pages than many other sketchbooks.* Third, using my Sakura pens, I don't have any bleed through to the next page.* Fourth, the paper is micro-perforated. This allows you to quickly and neatly remove pages.* Fifth, the paper is acid-free. While it might not be archival quality it should last longer.* Finally, it's not just a "cute" size, it's VERY portable. As I said, I take it everywhere. So, I recommend this sketchbook. Your bank account will thank you as well.

I had to buy these for our company's weekly Sketch Club, and everyone loves them. Great quality, sturdy enough to doodle on your lap if needed, and the pages can be easily torn out.

Honestly I didn't buy this sketch pad off of Amazon. I bought the one I have from an art supply store, I could have saved some money but it was worth what I ended up paying. The size is perfect if you, like me take your sketch book with you where ever you go. I wish I had found this one first since it is made from recycled paper. There's plenty of pages. I think it would make a wonderful, inexspensive gift for yourself or anyone.

just like the other reviewers said... so don't hesitate to get this pad. My 9 yr. old daughter loves it, and for the price, what can go wrong?

I usually work with bigger sketch books, but I find I enjoy this one for quick sketches and when I'm really on the go. Canson is my favorite company to buy sketch books from as I enjoy the thickness of the paper and how well it take traditional media. These are a bit more lighter then the Mix Media sketchbooks, but can still take markers and other heavy mediums well.

As a beginner I was looking for a smaller area on which to sketch . This is perfect and the quality of the paper is excellent. I would recommend this size to kids and adults. Use both sides of the page. If you sketch from the front first, you can start again from the back, follow your progress and have fun at the same time.

I like this book. I bought two because the price was excellent but the shipping was too much. Plus side: I got the books in less than a week.Ink doesn't bleed onto the next sheet and the pages are smooth but have the right amount of texture that I was looking for. Will order the larger size next.

I'm using this sketchbook for watercolors. (I'm an artist and this is by no means what it's intended for; the weight of the paper is far too light to be considered watercolor paper.) The paper curls a tiny, but holds up to the watercolors. There's no bleed-through.Again, this is not its intended purpose, but I figure that gives an idea of what the weight of the paper is.Definitely recommend!
