General Pencil Charcoal Pencil Kit W/Eraser 557BP Shopper Reviews

General Pencil Charcoal Pencil Kit W/Eraser 557BP Shopper Reviews
What can I say, but that these are a great set. I have worked with compressed, vine, and willow charcoal, and while they all serve a purpose, pencil charcoal is the least mess. These are particularly easy to work with - did i mention "smooth"? A smooth Kneaded eraser is thrown in to boot. I recently bought this set at a store for about the same price, well, when you take into account the "shipping cost".

I actually bought this product for a friend and she said that it's a great product and she's had a wonderful time using the kit and her work is turning out much better than with a standard pencil. I purchasing the product was very pleased with the price for the quality of the product. I definitely recommend it to other artists.

2B pencil came with charcoal broken and continues to brake no matter how much sharpenning. the wood is also the type where it catches on the sharpener. the kneading eraser is not the best, but it's good for learning hands.

Good pencils. The wood around the charcoal was solid and didn't break under pressure (heavy handed sometimes) and I would purchase more.

I purchased these for my husband who like to draw occasionally and has expressed his preference for pencil style charcoal. As far as I know they perform fine.

I must begin by saying I've never used any other brand of charcoal pencils, so I can't compare. But I do know that these blend wonderfully on nearly any kind of paper I've used (printer paper and cardstock work the best) and the charcoal itself is good enough to hold points for details for a few strokes if I need them to. They do tend to break often enough in the pencil sharpener, especially the softer ones, but I'm sure that's to be expected with something like this. It isn't like they're impossible to sharpen, but occasionally you can get times where you have to redo it a few times before you can get it right. The Charcoal White pencil is next to useless except on coloured/shaded paper, but when using it on such it becomes a valuable tool. The kneaded eraser is great for making highlights and getting rid of tiny stray very very light marks, BUT, I'll say fast to anyone who is considering trying these for the first time: once laid down, these do not erase. When you try to erase them, you have a "stain" on the paper from where they were. So you'll need to be good enough to draw something worth looking at as a finished product the first time around. I wasn't quite to that level when I began, and I still can't really hit it each and every time, but I've found these to be a very valuable (and fun!) learning experience. I'd recommend them to anyone.
