....because they are very very hard. Soft oil pastel sets are revered because they blend so well. But now and again you need a hard pastel/opaque to correct mistakes; to over-enter a mistake. Also, if you lay down a base layer of these, because they are so hard, you can scratch the softer pastel layers higher than them off and start over. The white stick alone is worth the cost of the set. Why? Because the white is so hard/opaque as to push the softer colors out of the way. For instance: Try creating blue water and waves with white-caps with a soft set of oil pastels. With these you can use white to go right over dark no problem. Oil pastels are hard to use because you have to place the white part of the paper exposed to create highlights. Not with these. You can use the white stick right over dark akin to oil paints...and the white will be bright white!When my wife initially bought these and I tried them and thought, "These are junk because they are so hard and don't blend well", BUT then I was having vex putting white-caps on top of waves in a water vista when I exposed the white stick solved my problem beautifully! I was smiling from ear to ear. You really do need a variety of hardnesses of oil pastels sets. I recommend these as a "supplemental" set rather than as a stand alone set. Hope this helps the artist that is thinking about these and reading this review.

Unfortunately my classroom has a chalkboard instead of a colorless penetrate and the chalk was driving me crazy. I got these and prose on the penetrate is much more fair. One business to deliberate- you need to wipe the penetrate with fill up in order to clean it (as different to a regular chalk eraser). Also, the marker's have been splendid because you can enter on different types of surfaces with them (glass, metal, chalk penetrate, whiteboard). The worse part is, Crayola doesn't offer the choice of a fill up purchase for the pencil, which means the fake pieces will end up in the trash can after the pencils are used up. Not sure how environmentally friendly this is. I am in suspense that Crayola will consider making refills.

I bought these pencils specifically to use for studying my Bible, as you may or may not know Bible paper is generally really thin and highlighters and flush ink pens will almost permanently bleed through the paper. These pencils work really great and don't trade show through hardly at all! The quality is really good also, I tried some other pencils earlier and they were so hard I was afraid they would tear through the pages, but these are pretty soft and smooth, the colors are vibrant and rich as well.The single problem I have with them is that the first name of the color isn't written directly on the barrel of the pencil, and some of the colors in the larger packs especially look extremely similar and I have to scribble made known a line or two in order to ensure I'm using the aptly one for a specific theme in my Bible Study.Outside of that minor trouble I really like these pencils a lot!

I bought these idea that I don't know I could mix them with my pre-void palette for numerous illustration projects I do on and off. I cultured owing to trial and error that these paints do not mix well at all with pre-void 'habitual' watercolors.The glitziness tends to come off and kind of muddies up the paints when you use them wet-on-wet or when you are tiresome to mix with other sign.I think if one were to use them as a finisher (like shining ordinary) over by now dried sign, you would be fine and it would lend a enthusiasm to your projects. Even if, as part of a habitual palette, I don't think they work well.

I received this set a few days ago and used it before today. It gave great color and enthusiasm. These watercolors beyond doubt leave a great sheen/enthusiasm to your print piantings. I like to use them just as highlights. They dry nicely, with a lot of shine to them. Exact, just what I was in tension for! A little will go a long way. Primarily if you use like me, just for highlighting fastidious parts of the paintings. I have not done a whole painting using only these sign, I think that would be TOO much.These little color bricks/blocks/whatever you call them, are thin, there is doubtless not as much in each well as you might suppose. But like I said, a little goes a long way! Primarily after it dries, you will see that what you planning was NOT near ample paint, will indeed dry to a spectacular shimmery shine that you sought after.One thing to note is that even if there was a slot for it at the front of the case when you open it, there is NOT a brush that comes with this set. You'll have to use your own brush. I make sure to use a small thin tipped one, and only wet the brick a little bit. Clean the brush between each color! These sign are just too darn sweet to get them all messed and mixed up with other sign. Take care of them, and this great set of sign will last you for quite a long time. I gave it 5 stars-- the price was just amazing.

I don't own an airbrush so I just used this to paint on some fondant decorations. Like the other reviewer said, it is blue-ish but when applying more coats, it turns into silver. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't blue-ish at first and if I didn't need to apply more coats to get the silver.

I used this to paint sugar ribbons for a cake. It's sweet thin--which makes sense since it's for airbrushing, technically. The color is ever so slightly blue-ish when applied in very small amounts, but I just did another coat and it was great.

I had used seamfil before and inquired if they made a clear and they sure did and my idea worked. It's not what it is supposed to be used for since it is for laminate counter seams but it worked great!

I was looking for some type of paint I could use to road sign some already fired ceramic art pieces I created and seen this little treasure. i was skeptical at the on line directions about placing bits and pieces in the oven @ 300 for 30 minutes to "bake" the paint. I ordered, I tried.. I'M IN LOVE !!! . This treasure was just what I needed. If you follow the directions "exactly" you should and will achieve success. I've never used one of these before and it was a delight at how easy it was to use. I did "oven fire" the pieces I used this pen on @ 275* for the same length of time and allowable the pieces to stay in the oven till they where completely cool.and cold to the touch.. I've ran three pieces through the dishwasher and the markings did not tint off.. Happy Crafting with this pen..

I purchased this pen for creating personalized mugs for Christmas presents this year and let me say, this works so well. I created my point on a test mug to get an idea of the flow and difficulty needed and from that experience, I've learned that the ink pours our very quickly. Also don't make any fast schedule are the ink will splatter all over.I let my mugs dry for 3 days, then positioned them in the oven at 150 for 45 summary and they came out exact.
